Steve Quigg Stephen is presently serving GBGM as the Coordinator of the Aviation Resource Department. However, more of his time is spent on loan to Mission Safety International (MSI), a non-denominational outreach to mission and church aviation programs around the world, including the UMC aviation ministries in Africa. As Vice President of Field Services, Steve works with MSI to provide a variety of services including safety surveys, security audits, safety seminars, accident investigations, continuing education events, and safety publications, all designed to make flying safer and more secure. Because of the remoteness and lack of technical support, much of the flying on the mission field is conducted dangerously close to "the edge of the envelope". MSI's work helps bring the flying back away from the edge and provides a bit more success and a bit less tragedy in the lives of those who fly to serve the church of Jesus Christ. Steve earned a degree in Aviation and Electrical Engineering Technologies from LeTourneau College; completed advanced flight and maintenance training at Moody Aviation; did cross-cultural ministries studies at Asbury Theological Seminary; and completed a computer science minor equivalent from Asbury College. Steve is a commercial pilot, a certified flight instructor and an Airframe and Powerplant mechanic. |
